About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Primary Care Physician to provide high-quality telemedicine services to the Department of Corrections. As a Temporary/Relief Primary Care Physician, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional patient care while adhering to established medical staff by-laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide primary care services to patients within the scope of practice for Primary Care Physician services.
  • Ensure basic computer competency for remote teleconferencing equipment use.
  • Adhere to universal infection control precautions.
  • Obtain prior authorization for treatment and transportation/transfers as required by law and department policies.
  • Comply with clinical reviews and formulary guidelines provided by the department.
Requirements
  • Twelve (12) continuous months of experience within the last three (3) years performing services similar in scope in a public or private institution.
  • Specialty Services: Additional experience is required for specialized areas such as emergency medicine, surgery, etc.
  • Obstetrics/Gynecology: Additional experience is required for physicians providing services to female institutions/facilities.
  • Must be licensed to practice medicine in the State of California with a valid Physician license issued by the Medical Board/Osteopathic Board of California.
  • Proficiency in the English language for effective communication with Department of Corrections staff.
  • Maintain current certifications, including Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and active facility credentialing status.
