Nurse Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Manager to join our team at the Center for Health Care Services. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the nursing functions of our Crisis Services, Substance Abuse, Behavioral Health, and Primary Care departments.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, implement, and evaluate the delivery of overall nursing care to patients in inpatient and outpatient behavioral health settings.
- Assist in processing bi-weekly nursing payroll and ensure accurate payment of shift differentials and overtime.
- Collaborate with nursing, clinical, and provider staff to resolve emergent patient or nursing issues in a timely manner.
- Conduct annual evaluations for nursing staff and attend department or position meetings.
- Develop and implement staffing plans for shifts based on patient acuity, census, and available staff.
- Ensure proper orientation of new employees and provide continuous training and development of clinical staff to meet organizational demands.
- Oversee staffing and management of patient care in respective units on a 24-hour basis.
- Participate in all programs, licensure, and external audits, and prepare Corrective Action Plans (CAPs).
- Recruit, select, and hire nursing positions, and participate in employee mentoring, coaching, and discipline.
- Promote highest quality standards of patient care by managing patient flow and promoting staff educational opportunities.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited university with two years' experience, or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited university with four years' experience.
- Current Registered Nurse License to practice in the State of Texas.
- Behavioral Competencies: self-motivated, energetic, self-starter, able to work independently with limited direction.
- Evidence of continued professional development, including additional education, training, certifications, courses, conferences attended, and webinars.
- Ability to meet physical requirements for Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) and CPR training, including lifting up to 12 lbs. and supporting up to 55 lbs.
- Masters of Science Degree in Nursing or higher earned degree from an accredited university.
- PHM-BC - Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification (PMH-BC).
- CNML - The Certified Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML).
- Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP).
- Leadership Principles: strong multifaceted intellect, deeply committed change agent, organizational leadership, deep business acumen, values and understands, well-rounded communicator, emotionally tough and resilient.
- Applicable software applications (including Microsoft Office) and modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment.
- CHCS nursing requirements and standards of practice.
- Clinical experience and academic expertise to train students in nursing skills.
- Federal, State, and local laws, rules, or regulations affecting the current area of nursing practice.
- Medical diagnosis and applicable medications.
- Mental health nursing practices.
- Phlebotomy.
- Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggression Certification (SAMA).
- Trauma Informed Mental Health Care.
- De-escalation and conflict resolution.
- Medication training.
- Organization and time management.
- Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature.
- Performing basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and ratios.
- Suicide prevention.
- Accurately organize and maintain paper documents and electronic files.
- Design, evaluate, update, and implement new and current nursing education curriculum.
- Effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Maintain accurate and complete records.
- Maintain the confidentiality of information and professional boundaries.
- Meet schedules and deadlines of the work.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions to medications.
- Respond to patient needs.
- Train students in nursing skills.

- Verify active order for labs and injections; confirm labs ordered.
