Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist Seasonal PRN position at Medical City Dallas is a dynamic opportunity for a skilled and dedicated professional to join our team. As a key member of our respiratory care team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our hospital.

Responsibilities
  • Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patient for therapeutic response and notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
  • Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations.
Requirements
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • State Registered Respiratory Therapist, or State Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician.
  • RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT / RCP), or Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT).
Program Requirements
  • All seasonal employees are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period.
  • All positions require 1 year of experience.
  • Three (3) weekend shifts are required each 4-week schedule period.
  • During the course of the 32-week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee).
  • Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need.
  • Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off.
  • Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for benefits, except 401(k) and retirement contribution per the PRN policy.
  • Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for extra shift bonuses (D1/CND, D2/ECD, and D3/EVD).
  • Current FT/PT/PRN employees are not eligible to join the Seasonal program for 2024-2025.
  • Current employees of HWS are not eligible for the seasonal program.
