We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Scientist to join our team at PM Environmental. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple projects, coordinating onsite activities, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Project management and oversight of multiple projects, including external communication with stakeholders and internal communication with project managers.
- Coordinate and plan onsite activities and field personnel, ensuring a culture of safety and compliance with regulations.
- Develop scope of work to assess Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs) and/or project specific objectives, including cost estimates.
- Prepare technical reports, including Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Baseline Environmental Assessments (BEAs), and other relevant documents.
- Manage financial responsibilities, including invoicing, record keeping, and contract management.
- Evaluate project progress, ensuring adherence to industry standards and company procedures.
- Conduct data evaluation and comparisons to appropriate cleanup criteria and/or screening levels.
- Provide administrative support to the Department Manager, including answering phone calls, determining project objectives, and researching client information.
- Operate computer to access electronic calendars, Deltek Vision, Microsoft Office Suite, and other basic office support software.
- Follow and enforce corporate policies and procedures.
- Occasional field work, including oversight of subcontractors, soil, groundwater, and soil gas sample collection, excavation/remediation oversight, and lithology.
- Prepare proposals, assist staff with data evaluation, report preparation, and client management, and conduct quality control reviews.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or related field.
- Three to Ten years of experience with the duties listed above.
- Qualification as an Environmental Professional (EP) preferred.
- 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification.
- Understanding of Michigan's environmental regulations, including Parts 201 and 213 of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act (NREPA).
- Experience with report writing, specifically Phase II ESAs, BEAs, and other relevant documents.
- Experience with field sampling/methodology/techniques and industry standards is preferred.
- Ability to smoothly handle client/customer interactions in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage multiple projects with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work efficiently in-person or remotely.
- Ability to work flexible hours and be available for tri-state travel on occasion.
The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision and Distance vision.
