Job Title: School Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

We are seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our special education team. The SLP will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, and communication disorders in students from PreK-12.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct speech and language assessments to identify communication disorders in students.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and treatment plans tailored to meet the specific needs of each student.
  • Provide direct therapy services to students with a range of speech and language disorders, including articulation, fluency, voice, language comprehension, and social communication.
  • Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to integrate speech-language interventions into the classroom environment.
  • Monitor and document student progress, making necessary adjustments to therapy goals and strategies.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including IEP meetings, to discuss student progress, goals, and needed supports.
  • Provide consultation and resources to parents and educators to support student communication development both in and out of the classroom.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in compliance with state and federal regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
  • Stay informed on current best practices in the field of speech-language pathology and apply new strategies and techniques to improve student outcomes.
  • Participate in professional development and training to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Valid Connecticut SLP license and Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Prior experience working in a school setting is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, specialists, and families to support student success.
