Nurse Scientist

Eisenhower Health seeks a highly skilled Nurse Scientist to join our team. As a key member of our nursing leadership team, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and evaluating nursing research and evidence-based practice (EBP) initiatives. Your expertise will be instrumental in fostering a culture of inquiry and bridging the gap between research and practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a database of nursing clinical research and EBP projects
- Collaborate with the Senior Director of Professional Development to develop innovative programs to educate and mentor nurses in EBP and research
- Participate in and support ANCC Magnet standards and collaborate with organization stakeholders and shared governance councils to promote integrated system-wide initiatives
- Assume responsibility for coordinating nursing and interprofessional research, using evidence-based practice methodologies to improve patient care and nursing practice
- Facilitate team projects by forming diverse high-performing interprofessional research or project teams
- Provide consultation, mentoring, education, and guidance for nurse-led EBP projects and research studies
- Establish and oversee individual project goals, milestones, and priorities
- Communicate project status, risks, and issues to project stakeholders regularly
- Participate in the quarterly and annual evaluation and strategic plan, including outcomes achieved the prior year
- Apply for grants and awards that support ongoing nursing research
- Actively participate and/or lead committees, taskforces, and/or workgroups
- Act as a nursing research liaison to the IRB coordinator and actively participate on the Institutional Review Board and other committees as appointed
- Understand and teach/advise on the improvement of nursing-sensitive quality indicators, nurse-sensitive patient satisfaction questions, and participation in quality improvement initiatives and councils
- Promote the development and testing of more efficient educational processes, identify new ways to incorporate technology to enhance learning, and discover more effective approaches to promote lifelong learning
- Evaluate program outcomes and role model professional nursing practice behaviors measured through improved patient outcomes, increased efficiency, decreased cost, and enhanced visibility of research and evidence-based practice across the organization, locally, regionally, and nationally
- Identify sources for, advocate, assist, and teach/support the dissemination of studies, including the development of abstracts, posters, podium presentations, and manuscripts
- Organize and conduct workshops, conferences, symposia, and other similar activities to promote EBP and/or research
- Develop and maintain professional networks within the organization and at the local, regional, and national level to promote professional and programmatic growth
- Participate in professional activities for development, including seminars, CEUs, professional organization meetings, and annually review quality and cost-effectiveness of these programs
- Seek opportunities to teach, coach, and mentor, and to learn, be coached, and mentored
Requirements:
- PhD in Nursing, or DNS or DNP or MSN in Nursing and attainment of PhD or other stated doctorate degree within 18 months
- California RN License; Certification in Leadership, Nursing Professional Development, or Research
- Five years' experience in nursing research and/or evidenced-based practice (EBP) role with a proven record in research/EBP and dissemination of findings
