Position Overview

The Field Technician III role is part of a comprehensive job family that includes Field Technician IV, Field Technician III, and Field Technician II positions.

This job family encompasses a range of responsibilities, which may include:

  • Regulated Duties: Conduct maintenance, repairs, construction, and emergency response for gas transmission and distribution systems. Provide operational support for gas meter installation, removal, reading, and replacement, as well as investigating gas leaks and carbon monoxide incidents.
  • Non-Regulated Duties: Diagnose, repair, service, and install HVAC systems and appliances. Perform inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment.

This position requires on-call availability 24/7 on a rotating schedule, with potential shift work based on operational needs.

Additionally, there is an expectation to promote and sell non-regulated service contracts.

Placement within the job family will depend on relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, repair, service, and install HVAC systems and appliances, ensuring thorough inspections and preventative maintenance.
  • Install, service, and routinely replace various gas metering devices, pressure regulators, relief valves, and filters.
  • Identify and mark natural gas mains, service lines, and fuel lines within the transmission and distribution network.
  • Conduct odorant testing, system leak surveys, and annual mandated inspections, providing detailed documentation of findings.
  • Assist in the construction or replacement of natural gas mains and service lines.
  • Set, adjust, and monitor gas delivery pressures, including farm taps and pressure testing of facilities.
  • Provide operational support for gas meter management.
  • Respond to gas leaks and carbon monoxide calls, ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Locate gas transmission and distribution systems as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, HSED, or GED.
  • A valid driver's license is required, meeting the company's driving standards.

The Field Technician III position necessitates one year of relevant experience, while the Field Technician II requires three years of relevant experience, which may include:

  • Familiarity with natural gas distribution systems and gas meter maintenance.
  • Experience in the installation, repair, and servicing of both gas and electric heating appliances for residential and commercial clients.
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical principles.
  • Experience in customer relations and service.
  • Proficiency in operating electronic devices such as computers and Toughpads.

Selected employees may need to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) based on job requirements.

Depending on assigned tasks, certain Field Technicians may be required to undergo additional training and medical evaluations for safety compliance.
