About Us:

We are a leading real estate development firm committed to enhancing the communities in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania by providing modern residential and commercial spaces. Our extensive portfolio includes thousands of rental units and significant commercial properties.

Position Overview:

We are in search of a dedicated Financial Controller who will oversee the accounting team, manage property budgets and forecasts, handle monthly closing activities, oversee accounts receivable and payable, and ensure adherence to GAAP standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team.
  • Manage the monthly closing cycle, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash flow management.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements across all accounts and ledgers.
  • Produce and review financial reports, ensuring timely communication of results to stakeholders.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting and forecasting processes for properties.
  • Document monthly financials, property budgets, and annual audits.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Oversee the implementation and management of the financial reporting IT system.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the real estate and construction sectors.
  • 5-10+ years of experience in a Controller or similar leadership role within the industry.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, tax regulations, and financial reporting, with proficiency in data analysis and forecasting.
  • Proficient in financial software such as Yardi and advanced skills in MS Excel.
  • Experience in preparing annual property budgets.
  • Expertise in managing the monthly closing process for billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash management.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA certification and/or experience in public accounting audits.
  • Experience in both commercial and multi-family sectors.
  • Prior experience in the implementation of new accounting or financial reporting software.
