As a Maintenance Specialist I-III (Operations Ranger) with TPWD, you will be responsible for performing building maintenance and construction work, as well as operating and maintaining park facilities, grounds, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform building maintenance and construction work, including repairs, renovations, and new construction projects
- Operate and maintain park facilities, grounds, and equipment, including vehicles, tractors, mowers, and power tools
- Provide quality visitor services, including issuing permits, collecting revenue, and providing information to visitors
- Assist in enforcing park rules and regulations, and performing resource management tasks
- Interpret the park's natural resources and provide educational programs to visitors
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; 30 semester hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of experience
- Experience: One to three years of facility, equipment, or grounds maintenance experience required
- Licensure: Valid Class C Texas driver's license required
- Experience working with the public and providing customer service
- Experience with landscaping and grounds maintenance techniques
- Experience with building and facility repair techniques, such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or mechanical
- Required to work 40 hours per week with hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and days off other than Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays
- Must be able to adjust to changing schedules
- Required to work in a public park with overnight camping and day use
- Required to perform work outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions
- Required to perform manual labor, including lifting supplies and materials up to 50 lbs.
