Position PurposeThe Medical Waste Route Driver is responsible for servicing assigned accounts in a professional manner, ensuring that customers' needs are met on a continual basis for various waste pickup and supply delivery. This role requires providing the highest level of customer service possible, transporting waste from Stericycle locations or customer sites to transfer or processing locations, and complying with all state, local, and Stericycle immunization requirements, including full vaccination against Covid-19.
Key Job Activities- Manage assigned routes to ensure safe, timely, and accurate waste pickup and delivery.
- Pick up and transport waste safely according to federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
- Plan daily schedules based on customers' needs, reviewing daily paperwork and following routing software route schedules.
- Prepare and load trucks to service select accounts, ensuring enough supplies are added.
- Unload trucks at Stericycle and customer sites, securing waste and ensuring it is properly prepared for transport.
- Provide exceptional customer service, communicating any issues to the Transportation Manager or Dispatcher for resolution.
- Ensure waste, supplies, and material handling equipment are secured prior to operating the vehicle on public highways.
- Complete assigned paperwork legibly, neatly, accurately, and completely, and return it to the Transportation Supervisor or Dispatcher for processing.
- Communicate with Stericycle Transportation Supervisor and/or Dispatcher regarding any changes to route pickups, including address changes or customer not having waste ready for pickup.
- 6+ months of experience in driving shred/box trucks and route management.
- Valid standard driver's license (Class D or above) with an excellent driving record.
- Ability to obtain and retain a valid Medical Examiner Card (MED).
- Stericycle welcomes non-native English speakers who can read and speak English sufficiently to understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records as required by federal regulation.
