ROLE SUMMARY:
The Metal Fabrication Specialist will be tasked with the welding and assembly of various components, both large and small, within a controlled indoor environment. This role involves welding precisely toleranced assemblies, creating custom fixtures, and ensuring compliance with all specifications and quality standards.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accurately interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Perform TIG/MIG welding on various materials (aluminum, stainless steel, steel, cast, etc.) in accordance with safety standards.
- Design and construct custom fixtures for welding tasks.
- Follow detailed welding instructions and complete projects based on provided blueprints.
- Understand and execute verbal instructions from manufacturing leadership regarding job specifications.
- Conduct tack-welding to join metal components at specified intervals.
- Inspect and document quality standards of completed work pieces.
- Collaborate closely with design, production, and engineering teams to integrate quality considerations into the manufacturing workflow.
- Utilize all safety equipment and tools to ensure safe welding operations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times.
- Engage in cross-training throughout the manufacturing facility, with potential reassignment based on company needs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Must be a US Citizen or a person as defined by ITAR.
- Ability to comprehend numerical data, basic trigonometry, and geometry for verifying setups and dimensions. A high school diploma or equivalent, or relevant technical training is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience and/or training required.
- Capability to successfully pass a welding test.
- Proficient in the precise use of measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
- Ability to read and adhere to tolerances and blueprints.
- Experience in setting up and operating welding machines.
- Mechanically inclined with a strong attention to detail.
- Basic mathematical skills necessary for welding setup and operation.
- Willingness to be cross-trained across various roles within the manufacturing facility.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Commitment to mentoring and enhancing the skills of colleagues.
