Job OverviewPosition Summary

SAIC is on the lookout for a Lead Systems Engineer with expertise in National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) operations to deliver Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) support to a growing Government Intelligence Community (IC) client. This role is integral to a System Program Office (SPO), providing technical guidance for the planning, execution, monitoring, and oversight of system development and acquisition initiatives that enhance the NRO's capabilities in space resilience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • This position is anticipated to be a part-time, interdisciplinary systems engineering role focused on evaluating and advising clients on both large-scale and smaller aerospace systems and technology development.
  • Daily tasks will involve the assessment of technical documentation and acquisition materials, as well as the formulation of Statement of Work (SOW) requirements and proposal documentation.
  • Engage in technical review processes; support the client in the execution of system development projects.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and mission partner organizations to ensure alignment and effectiveness.
  • Create technology roadmaps and evaluate current and future technologies for potential integration, utilizing established technology and manufacturing readiness level frameworks.
  • The primary work location is in the Dayton, OH area; candidates residing in Dayton will need to travel approximately 25%. For those living outside Dayton, additional travel may be necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related scientific/technical field with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or a Master's Degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience; candidates with more extensive experience will be considered.
  • Possession of an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph is required.
  • Experience in defining system and subsystem requirements and assessing industry proposal submissions is essential.
  • Familiarity with prime hardware assembly, integration, and testing, including ground test articles, is important.
  • Experience in technology maturation and transition to demonstration or operational systems is necessary.
  • Strong understanding of established technology and manufacturing readiness levels is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of the DoD acquisition process is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and customer engagement skills are essential.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment is crucial.
