Senior Surety Counselor, Expert Risk Mitigation

Job Summary:
The Senior Surety Counselor, Expert Risk Mitigation will be responsible for conducting in-depth risk assessments, analyzing complex claims, and providing expert advice to underwriters and claim colleagues. This role requires a strong understanding of surety bonds, contract law, and risk management principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and provide expert advice on risk mitigation strategies
- Analyze complex claims and provide recommendations for resolution
- Collaborate with underwriters and claim colleagues to develop and implement effective risk management plans
- Travel to and attend mediations, settlement conferences, and other claim-related events
- Review and analyze contract documents, bond forms, and other agreements to ensure compliance with terms and conditions
- Engage in account workout risk mitigation analysis and advise on mitigation strategies
Requirements:
- 6+ years of relevant legal or claim handling experience
- Juris Doctorate Degree and proper licensure to practice law in the jurisdiction
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate complex ideas clearly
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions and negotiate terms and conditions
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, customers, and business partners
