Certified Athletic Trainer

Job Summary:
The Certified Athletic Trainer at Arnot Health is responsible for managing the health care of participating athletes, including first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, and rehabilitation programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform injury prevention, recognition, assessment, treatment, and reconditioning of athletic injuries
- Develop treatment programs, including modalities, therapeutic exercises, and strength and conditioning programs
- Prepare athletes for treatment and ensure their comfort and safety
- Carry out prescribed treatments and recommendations by the team/program/event physician
- Coordinate follow-up treatment/appointments with physician office manager and/or Rehab scheduling team
- Inform athlete and families of important aspects of athletes' present condition
- Inform physician and program manager of necessary documentation or observable signs
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, athletic director(s), coaches, and physicians
- Maintain athletes' medical records and relevant paperwork
- Work confidently in crisis or emergency situations
- Participate in select community service/educational programs related to sports medicine
- Assist in program development related to sports medicine
Requirements:
- Minimum of bachelor's degree in health-related field
- Current National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) certification
- Minimum of one to two years athletic training experience in a sports environment
- CPR certification within 90 days of hire
Physical Demands:
- Appreciable physical effort or strain
- Occasional repetitive efforts may involve lifting, pushing, and pulling
- Must be able to assist with or transfer patients of various weights/heights
- Must be able to lift at least 30# independently and at least 150# with the assistance of another person
- Must be able to push carts containing medical and athletic equipment
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, have good mobility skills, and be able to walk long distances
- Must be able to carry medical, first aid, and athletic training kit and coolers for long distances
Exposure Category:
Category I. Will have close contact with athletes and is likely to come in contact with blood and body fluids.
