Position Overview:

As a Precision Machinist, you will play a crucial role in supporting the manufacturing process by troubleshooting, performing preventative maintenance, and repairing all machinery and equipment related to tire production. You will also be responsible for maintaining safety and cleanliness standards throughout the facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize standard machinist tools such as scrapers, chisels, files, and measuring devices.
  • Safely operate machinery including lathes, milling machines, planers, shapers, and CNC equipment.
  • Employ shop mathematics, charts, and tables for efficient work planning and to determine dimensions and specifications of standard fasteners.
  • Shape metal components to precise specifications within tolerance.
  • Conduct welding tasks as necessary.
  • Operate power trucks for various shop tasks.
  • Keep equipment, spare parts, and materials organized in the workspace.
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, maintenance manuals, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Collaborate with other crafts to ensure proper measurements for fitment.
  • Document or utilize a computerized work order system for maintenance and repair activities.
  • Adhere to safety standards including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), Fall Protection, and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Follow Goodyear's attendance policy.
  • Perform a variety of manual tasks in diverse temperature conditions, which may involve lifting, climbing, standing, squatting, bending, and working at heights when necessary.
Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.
  • Ability to lift heavy materials, climb, stand, squat, bend, and work at heights with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment requirements.
  • Willingness to work any and/or rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, or overtime as needed.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must provide basic tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as an Industrial Machinist with a foundational understanding of machine technology and heavy industrial machinery.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship as an Industrial Machinist or Tool Room Machinist.
  • Possession of an Industrial Machinist Journeyman's card or an Associate's degree in Machinist Technology.
  • Desire to learn and work across various crafts.
  • Experience with industry-specific safety protocols.
