Job Title: Occupational Therapist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our team at Center for Elders Independence. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing restorative and rehabilitative services to our elderly clients, helping them to maintain their independence and quality of life.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to evaluate participants' level of functioning and potential for rehabilitation or restoration.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care that promote muscle re-education, perceptual-motor and cognitive function, balance, endurance, and other factors affecting independence in daily living activities.
  • Conduct initial assessments and reassessments of participants as required.
  • Treat participants to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance in daily living activities.
  • Work with vendors to obtain rehabilitative equipment and supplies for participants.
  • Observe and record participants' responses to occupational therapy interventions and report changes in condition to the interdisciplinary team.
  • Supervise and evaluate therapy program aides in the implementation of individualized plans of care.
  • Train family members, caregivers, and CEI staff in methods to maximize safety and functional abilities in performing daily living activities.
  • Attend interdisciplinary team conferences and participate in the development of plans of care.
  • Evaluate participants' home environments and make recommendations as needed.
  • Attend continuing education and participate in meetings and trainings as required.
  • Maintain required certifications and adhere to Occupational Therapy practice standards and CEI policy.
  • Document thoroughly, accurately, and timely, and in accordance with Occupational Therapy practice standards and CEI policy.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly department, keep equipment in good working condition, and handle potentially infectious specimens with appropriate biohazard precautions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all company procedures, results, and information about participants, clients, or families.
  • Display a courteous, helpful, and professional attitude on the job and be responsive to all customer groups.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and follow CEI's Safety Policies and Procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Possession of a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and graduation from a program of Occupational Therapy approved by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education.
  • Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist by the Occupational Therapy Board of California.
  • Preferred: one (1) year of experience working as a Licensed Occupational Therapist with the frail elderly population.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification on file.
  • A valid California driver's license, current vehicle insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle.
