Duties and Responsibilities

As a Molecular Genetic Technologist, you will be responsible for performing testing and troubleshooting assay performance, operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, and performing quality control to ensure that systems meet the laboratory's established specifications.

You will also be expected to adhere to the Code of Conduct outlined in the Baylor Genetics Compliance Program and perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Molecular Genetics Technologist I:

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or medical technology
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Certification (preferred): MB(ASCP) or MT(ASCP)

Molecular Genetics Technologist II:

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or medical technology
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience
  • Certification (preferred): MB(ASCP) or MT(ASCP)
  • OR
  • Master's degree in a scientific discipline or medical technology
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Certification (preferred): MB(ASCP) or MT(ASCP)

Molecular Genetics Technologist III:

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or medical technology
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience
  • Certification (preferred): MB(ASCP) or MT(ASCP)
  • OR
  • Master's degree in a scientific discipline or medical technology
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience
  • Certification (preferred): MB(ASCP) or MT(ASCP)
  • OR
  • PhD in a scientific discipline or medical technology
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Certification (preferred): MB(ASCP) or MT(ASCP)

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role requires frequent sitting, standing, and utilization of hand and finger dexterity. You will also be required to talk or hear frequently and utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard.

Occasionally, you may be exposed to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials.
