Position Summary

Our staff members contribute to an atmosphere that promotes health, hope, and healing for everyone, guided by the System's principles to establish a welcoming and professional environment. They support and operate under the supervision of the care team, performing various administrative and clinical tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our healthcare practice. Responsibilities include patient intake during office visits, delivering exceptional patient care, maintaining documentation, administering vaccines and medications, and handling clerical, environmental, and organizational duties.

  • Adhere to patient intake and rooming protocols established at the practice and maintain examination areas.
  • Assist in conducting screenings and treatments by collecting information related to health maintenance and documenting patient care.
  • Update health maintenance records during patient visits, accurately noting medication changes and allergy information at each appointment.
  • Follow standard precautions and comply with policies and other regulatory agency standards.
  • Assist patients with inquiries regarding prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and referral authorizations.
  • Conduct CLIA-approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing in accordance with CLIA standards.
  • Perform Point of Care testing (POCT) as per standing orders or provider directives, ensuring quality control and maintenance for in-office lab procedures, as applicable.
  • Carry out venipuncture and may assist in collecting specimens of body fluids such as urine and blood for laboratory analysis. Complete lab requisitions and prepare specimens for collection.
  • Ensure that ordered laboratory and diagnostic tests are tracked and logged, providing the care team with test results.
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage stock of medications, narcotics, and emergency medical supplies.

Physical Requirements
This role consistently involves walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling. The ability to lift and support up to 35 lbs is necessary for handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. There may be exposure to communicable diseases. Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing Basic English is required. Intact senses of sight, hearing, smell, and touch are essential. Manual dexterity is necessary.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. BLS certification is mandatory as per policy guidelines, and candidates must maintain current certification. Candidates must be recognized or certified as a CMA or RMA by one of the following national organizations: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National HealthCareer Association (NHA), National Healthcare Worker's Association (NHCWA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), or National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA). Candidates must meet one of the following criteria: A) Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program B) Intermediate EMT or Paramedic Program with three years of prior clinical experience C) Structured military training with a clinical focus per DD214 D) Graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing E) Three years of on-the-job training and successful completion of a Medical Group-approved competency assessment.
