Cytotechnologist Specialist

Scismic Inc is seeking a highly skilled Cytotechnologist to support the growth of a health system organization in Marietta, Ohio. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of technical, analytical, and clinical duties, including staining, mounting, and studying human body cells to detect evidence of cancer and other pathological conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow established procedures to perform routine, STAT, or special tests on gynecological and non-gynecological specimens.
- Perform and document all required quality control procedures, maintain workload recording information, and other records deemed necessary to comply with regulatory agency standards.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot instruments and equipment to perform standard and special tests, document all required activities.
- Notify supervisor of any unusual or unexpected results, report all suspicious/positive results to appropriate personnel, complete all required documentation.
- Maintain a neat and efficient work area at all times.
- Follow all organizational, departmental, and section policies, including Universal Precautions, Fire Safety, QA Documentation, and Hazardous Wastes.
- Conduct self in a professional manner at all times, including apparel, telephone conversations, staff peer interactions, etc.
- Assume all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum of one year internship in an accredited hospital required.
- Successful completion of C.T. Registry (ASCP) required, Registry or certification in Cytology by HEW required.
Special Knowledge, Skills, Training:
- Working knowledge of all aspects of cytology, including cyto-preparation of specimens, staining, and cellular morphology of both gyn and non-gyn cytology.
- Mastery of the ability to use the microscope for several hours at a time with alertness and precision.
