About the Job

This part-time transport driver position is responsible for transporting youth in secure and non-secure custody to designated placements. The ideal candidate will have a current Class C driver's license and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate county vehicles and transport juveniles as directed by the court or a community corrections officer.
  • Maintain vehicles in a clean manner, including regular maintenance and inspections.
  • Document transport activities, including times in and out of service, youth transported, and any other requested information.
  • Sign court-ordered transport orders to verify completion of transport.
  • Follow all directions regarding the use of law enforcement radios and cell phones in vehicles.
  • Perform pat-down searches, shackle, and handcuff juvenile offenders in preparation for transport.

Requirements

  • Current Class C driver's license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures to facilitate an acceptable reintegration and/or continued adjustment of juvenile offenders within their environment.

Working Conditions

This position requires occasional lifting of items weighing up to 25 pounds and may involve brief periods of intense physical activity. The ideal candidate will be able to maintain a positive work atmosphere and interact effectively with clients, families, and other stakeholders.

Benefits

This is a part-time, on-call position with no benefits. The ideal candidate will be able to work weekends as needed and have a reliable means of transportation.
