Job Summary

American Systems is seeking a skilled Sonar Technician to support our CWITT contract efforts at Electric Boat in Groton, CT. As a Sonar Technician, you will play a critical role in the installation, testing, and maintenance of sonar systems on submarines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and Test Sonar Equipment: Ensure that sonar systems are properly installed and tested to meet engineering specifications.
  • Provide Customer Interface: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during installations, testing, and other tasks.
  • Implement Engineering Change Instructions: Assist in the implementation of engineering change instructions to ensure compliance with engineering plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate with Engineering Teams: Collaborate with other engineering technicians to ensure seamless execution of projects.
  • Evaluate Sonar Systems: Evaluate sonar systems to ensure they meet engineering plans and specifications.
  • Support Systems Engineering: Provide subject matter expertise to support systems engineering activities.
Requirements
  • Active Secret US Government Clearance: Must have an active secret US government clearance to be considered for this role.
  • Education and Experience: Five years of practical experience and a high school diploma/GED or three years of practical experience and an associate's degree in engineering technology, math, or science.
  • Communication and Analytical Skills: Excellent communication and analytical skills, with working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.
  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Submarine Platform Knowledge: Knowledge of multiple submarine platforms and SWFTS systems.
  • Advanced Sonar Operator: Qualified advanced sonar operator.
