With its headquarters in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, the organization operates extensively across the Midwest, encompassing facilities in Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, and South Dakota. The company boasts ownership of four feed mills, oversees 145,000 sows across 44 farms, and manages over 350 nurseries and grow-finish sites. Employing nearly 1,000 individuals, Christensen Farms also maintains 1,500 contract partnerships.
Business Model: The company is vertically integrated, ensuring a robust presence throughout the pork value chain—from farm to consumer. Christensen Farms holds the largest stake in Triumph Foods LLC, a producer-owned primary pork processing facility located in St. Joseph, Missouri. Triumph Foods members also own 50% of Daily's Premium Meats, a specialty processor of bacon and other premium pork products. Additionally, Triumph Foods shares a 50% partnership in Seaboard Triumph Foods, LLC, situated in Sioux City, Iowa, which serves as a primary pork processing plant.
Position Overview: This role entails the evaluation and assessment of equipment, structural integrity of facilities (both interior and exterior), and electrical systems across all company assets. The technician will determine the end-of-life status, recommend replacement schedules, and develop associated budgets. This position will require travel and overnight stays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive site assessments across all operational regions, focusing on equipment condition, replacement schedules, electrical systems, and the structural integrity of buildings.
- Maintain a detailed database of facility conditions and a forecast for asset replacements.
- Propose site enhancements and repairs based on assessment findings.
- Assist in the development and documentation of detailed project scopes and work plans.
- Collect quotes for suggested repairs to provide project estimates for budgeting and approval.
Qualifications:
- Minimum education: High School Diploma required. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook is essential.
- At least 5 years of experience in hog farm repair and/or installation.
- Experience conducting electrical inspections is necessary.
- Familiarity with hog terminology is preferred.
- Additional Skills: Previous construction experience, knowledge of equipment functionality, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints are required. Attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively are essential. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary. A basic understanding of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is also required.
Reporting Structure:
This position reports to the Capital Planning Construction Manager.
Management Scope:
This is a contributor role without managerial responsibilities. There are no direct or indirect supervisory duties associated with this position.
