Job Title: Pharmacist

Join a dynamic team at the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse (ODMHSAS) as a Pharmacist at our Northwest Center for Behavioral Health (NCBH) facility in Fort Supply, Oklahoma.

About the Role:

As a Pharmacist, you will be responsible for performing professional-level work in filling prescriptions, dispensing drugs, and compounding pharmaceutical preparations. You will work under general direction to ensure the highest quality care for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Compound, manufacture, and dispense drugs, medications, narcotics, barbiturates, and other pharmaceutical supplies as requisitioned by doctors.
  • Periodically visit wards to ensure emergency stock supplies are adequately stored and replenished as necessary.
  • Check patient charts for possible overdoses, drug interactions, side effects, and proper paperwork, and make reports accordingly.
  • Reject prescriptions containing excessive dosages, consult with physicians on revision of prescriptions, and may require physician's release of responsibility on overdoses.
  • Keep abreast of current developments and literature, advise physicians on available drugs and medications, and the use of alternate drugs.
  • Ensure drug supplies are used according to dates and remove outdated supplies from use, maintain perpetual stock inventory, requisition supplies, and check incoming supplies for dates, dosage, and other factors to ensure supplies are as ordered.
Requirements:
  • Possession of a valid license to practice pharmacy in the State of Oklahoma.
  • Knowledge of procedures followed in compounding, filling, labeling, and distributing medical prescriptions, and in pharmaceutical preparations for use in the pharmacy and in the various units of the hospital.
  • Knowledge of the various drugs, pharmaceuticals, and other medical supplies and solutions used in compounding and dispensing drugs.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical arithmetic, medical terms, and the classification of drugs according to their action, use, and dosage.
  • Knowledge of supervisory techniques and methods, and the maintenance of records and inventories.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others, following technical oral and written instructions, and judging a situation accurately and adopting an effective course of action.

About Us:

NCBH provides excellent treatment to all of Northwestern Oklahoma. We are licensed and Joint Commission accredited since 1974. We provide complete mental health and substance abuse services for the individuals of Northwest Oklahoma in our outpatient offices, enhanced residential, and our inpatient psychiatric unit.
