The Lumber Yard Operations Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering outstanding customer service while managing the daily functions of the lumber yard and its equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver exceptional service to customers.
- Foster a respectful and courteous environment for all team members, vendors, and customers.
- Welcome and assist customers in a friendly and approachable manner, addressing inquiries and collaborating with management to resolve any issues.
- Engage in various tasks, including assisting customers with loading and unloading lumber and building materials, preparing loads as necessary, operating trucks and equipment, and delivering materials to designated locations.
- Physically transport building materials to job sites, ensuring careful placement to avoid damage to the materials or surroundings.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and vehicles, reporting any defects to a supervisor and maintaining accurate inspection logs as required.
- Support inventory management by ensuring proper loading of customer orders, checking in shipments, and performing regular cycle counts.
- When not engaged in deliveries, assist with other lumber yard tasks, such as maintaining the yard, helping customers, organizing materials, and performing equipment maintenance.
- Prioritize customer satisfaction while fulfilling other responsibilities.
- Maintain a safe working environment by being aware of surroundings and reporting any safety concerns to management.
- Assist in other departments as needed.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Role: This position does not involve direct supervision of others.
Work Environment: The employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions, with a moderate noise level.
Physical Requirements:
The ideal candidate must be capable of fulfilling all physical demands of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Extended periods of standing and walking are required.
- Ability to lift items weighing up to 80 lbs as necessary.
Position Type and Work Schedule:
This is a full-time role, requiring 40 hours per week, with availability for day, evening, and weekend shifts as needed.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1-2 years of experience in customer service is preferred.
- Valid driver's license.
- Forklift operation experience is preferred; candidates must be at least 18 years old to operate a forklift.
