The Registered Medical Technologist is responsible for performing tests across multiple departments within the clinical laboratory, including:

These professionals serve as technical resources for clinical staff and collaborate with other departments to ensure precise patient diagnoses and care. Their work is vital in maintaining quality control, conducting proficiency testing, performing calibrations, reviewing records, maintaining instruments, and troubleshooting results and analyzers.

Individuals in this role may take on additional responsibilities, such as:

  • Key operator duties
  • Quality control reviews
  • Training and mentoring new personnel
  • Assisting in the evaluation and validation of new laboratory equipment

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory/medical technology science from an accredited institution. Degree verification is required.
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Lab Scientist, or an equivalent certification approved by management.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends, holidays, nights, and on-call duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with laboratory information systems.
  • Background in relevant areas of the clinical laboratory.
  • Proficiency in using laboratory systems, databases, and spreadsheets.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to verbally communicate with others.
  • Proficient in operating computers and delicate laboratory equipment.
  • Capable of reading lab equipment, monitors, and documents.
  • Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods while performing tasks.
