Gastrointestinal Surgeon

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a highly skilled and accomplished gastrointestinal surgeon to join our team in the Department of Surgery. As a faculty member, you will be part of a dynamic and innovative environment that fosters academic excellence, research, and clinical practice.

We are looking for a fellowship-trained colon and rectal surgeon with a strong interest in academic surgery. The successful candidate will be expected to meet clinical, research, and teaching needs in the Department of Surgery with a practice focused on colorectal diseases, including colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, anorectal disorders, endoscopy, and other colorectal pathologies.

• Participate in the support of general surgery practices in rural hospitals in Alabama
• Contribute to the development and implementation of research projects in gastrointestinal surgery
• Teach and mentor students, residents, and fellows in the Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery
• Engage in clinical practice, including surgical procedures and patient care

• MD or MD/PhD degree
• Substantial professional work experience in research, teaching, and/or service
• Strong track record of academic and clinical achievements
