Overview

This role is pivotal within the Financial Division of DelDOT. The individual in this position will oversee all financial operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Financial Reporting. Responsibilities also include monitoring workflow, supervising team members, ensuring compliance with regulations and deadlines, reviewing and analyzing transactions, formulating policies and procedures, and generating reports for leadership, including GAAP reporting and quarterly estimates.

Key Responsibilities

The following are essential functions that are fundamental to this position. This list is not exhaustive and may include additional duties as required: Evaluates and scrutinizes financial transactions and records for accuracy while ensuring compliance with agency budgets, agreements, grants, or contracts, as well as state and federal laws. Analyzes, reconciles, and consolidates data from journals and records into the general ledger; prepares trial balances and implements necessary corrections and adjustments to maintain balance and an audit trail. Reviews financial transactions and classifications to ensure accuracy and recommends necessary modifications. Maintains internal controls and applies relevant accounting principles and standards. Provides expert advice and technical support on assigned fiscal functions. Compiles, analyzes, and prepares various financial statements and reports to support financial, budgetary, and personnel planning. Conducts research and supplies data, reports, and documentation to auditors and other entities requesting financial information. Utilizes commercial and proprietary software systems to evaluate and report on financial data. Delivers exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders through various communication methods. Engages effectively with diverse individuals across various cultures, abilities, genders, ethnicities, ages, and races. May oversee purchasing, disbursement, and inventory management of equipment and supplies.

Qualifications

Requirements for Senior Fiscal Consultant Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: A minimum of four years of experience in compiling, analyzing, and reporting financial data to ensure effective fund management and financial forecasting. At least two years of experience in analyzing financial challenges, developing alternatives, and advising management on solutions. Relevant coursework, training, or experience in budget management and control, including maintaining and monitoring budgets within established policies. Experience in supervising staff, which may include leading a team and overseeing the work of others.
