Key Responsibilities

Clinical Excellence and Patient Care

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Identify essential items required to perform the core functions of this position.

Preferred or Specialized

Not required to perform the essential functions of the position.

Education:

· Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapist program is required.

· RRT certification is necessary.

Experience:

· One (1) year of hospital clinical experience is preferred or demonstrated clinical proficiency.

License(s)/Certification(s):

· Current Iowa Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license is required.

· Active National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) status is necessary.

· Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

· Specialty certification is a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

· Proficient in reading, writing, comprehending, and speaking fluent English.

· Demonstrates multicultural sensitivity.

· Exhibits proficiency in the manual skills and techniques necessary for basic and advanced respiratory care, including the administration of inhaled medications and operation of specialized respiratory equipment.

· Shows skill, organization, and efficiency in performing required respiratory care activities.

· Ability to complete a basic computer course on the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) through in-hospital training.

· Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office are required.

Other:

· Familiarity with the usual and customary equipment necessary to perform essential functions of the position.
