Overview of the Security Officer Role

Bannock County is in search of a committed individual to fulfill the role of Security Officer at our detention center. The primary duty of this position is to ensure the safety and security of the facility and its occupants.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Observe and monitor activities within the detention center to uphold safety and security standards.
  • Effectively communicate with fellow staff members through various communication methods.
  • Facilitate the intake process for new inmates and carry out associated booking responsibilities.
  • Conduct routine patrols to reinforce facility security.
  • React promptly to emergencies and implement safety protocols.
  • Manage evidence and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Escort inmates and oversee their activities within the facility.
  • Execute all responsibilities in accordance with legal regulations and safety practices.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in criminal justice is preferred.
  • Previous experience in law enforcement or within detention environments is advantageous.
  • Capability to adhere to instructions and perform effectively in high-pressure scenarios.
  • A valid driver's license and basic detention certification are mandatory.
  • Physical capability to perform various tasks in a challenging environment.
