Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse

The Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional practitioner responsible for delivering patient care to telemetry/progressive care patients. This individual demonstrates the ability to make clinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner with supervision. The RN employs critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination of patient care, consistently performs according to nursing standards, and is accountable in managing patient care and assisting others in the management of patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care on a progressive care unit.
- Perform focused interviews to identify specific patients' needs.
- Assess signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient's condition.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data and information from healthcare members and document actual and/or potential nursing diagnoses.
- Document the patient's plan of care using identified nursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursing interventions.
- Identify and prioritize actions based upon patient care requirements.
- Perform interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, and hospital policies and patient care outcome standards.
- Provide a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic patient environment.
- Initiate and evaluate patient and/or family education.
- Revises the plan of care according to evaluation, changes in medical plan of care, effective/ineffective nursing interventions.
- Document patient's response to nursing and other interventions.
- Use clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care needs of an assigned unit/floor, including establishing priorities.
- Monitor safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment.
- Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practices.
- One year prior professional nursing experience preferred with one year progressive care unit experience preferred.
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
- Current CPR if applicable.
- TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required.
- Computer proficiency required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
