Job Title: Operating Room Nurse

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Operating Room Nurse to join our team at Oaklawn Surgery Center. As an Operating Room Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide ongoing assessment and nursing care to patients in the facility in accordance with physicians' orders, policies, procedures, and processes within the scope of practice.
  • Collaborate with physicians and team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Ensure that the Operating Rooms are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
  • Prepare surgery suite for surgical procedures.
  • Follow established universal precautions in the use of PPE.
  • Individualize patient care according to patients' health status and surgery/procedure being performed.
  • Operate equipment and perform technical skills according to policies and standards.
  • Recognize situations (patient, staff, visitor, and physician) and significant assessment findings that require verbal or written communication and follow through to the appropriate people.
  • Monitor surgery inventory and notify appropriate individual(s) when supplies are needed.
Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or GED certificate recipient.
  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
  • Active RN license in the state where work will be conducted.
  • BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Current surgical experience (within past 3 years).
  • Ability to make sound nursing judgment based on nursing theory.
  • Demonstrates primary nurse accountability through coordination, communication, and continuity of patient care.
  • Must be able to assess, prioritize, plan, and implement direct patient care.
  • Assumes responsibility for competency of practice and takes initiative for professional development and continuing education.
