Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Material Handler to join our team at Recology. As a Material Handler, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our facilities operate efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sort and separate a wide variety of reusable waste materials for recycling in accordance with established standards and procedures.
  • Identify and report any hazardous materials in the waste stream, taking appropriate action to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Empty and/or change sorted materials containers as needed, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as state and local regulations, to ensure compliance and minimize waste.

Requirements

  • Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
  • Principles and practices of job site safety, potential job hazards, and state and local regulations.
  • Basic computer programs and common procedures.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to promote the WASTE ZERO philosophy by making the best and highest use of all resources.
  • Work under pressure, handle stressful situations, and maintain flexibility.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of activity or productivity, operating with effectiveness and determination over extended periods of time.

  • Ability to consistently build knowledge and expertise about current job.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and customers.
