Dispensing Nurse Job Description

BAART Program, a leading substance abuse treatment organization, is seeking a detail-oriented and empathetic Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team as a Dispensing Nurse. In this role, you will work collaboratively with physicians and nursing supervisors to dispense prescribed medications as part of a treatment team.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer daily medication to patients in accordance with program policy and medical protocols.
  • Utilize automated dispensing systems, calibrate pumps, and maintain dispensing equipment to ensure accurate and efficient medication distribution.
  • Produce and maintain accurate records and reports as required by Company protocol, Federal, and State regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards for the distribution and storage of controlled substances as set forth in the Code of Federal regulations.
  • Order, receive, and stock medication in accordance with DEA and State regulations (if granted Power of Attorney).
  • Conduct daily patient assessments to ensure optimal care.
  • Assist Nursing Supervisors in orienting new nursing staff.
  • Perform other related duties as determined by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • Current and good standing LPN license in the State of South Dakota.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • EMR and computer proficiency desired.
  • Experience in chemical dependency preferred, self-motivated, and directed, with a positive attitude toward individuals in substance abuse treatment.
  • Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
