About the Role

Airbus Americas is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Inspector to join our team in Mobile, AL. As a Mechanical Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of care and safety is built into each aircraft we assemble and maintain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all defined Quality Inspections up to product delivery.
  • Red flag all deviations which occur on product, equipment, and tools.
  • Verify that the industrial environment, facilities, hardware, and tools respond to the operations and safety requirements.
  • Provide feedback and coaching to Operations & Support Functions on Quality issues and observations from Operational Surveillance.
  • Quality Inspections and attestation of work orders when not delegated.
  • Operational Surveillance (process, product, people), Optimization of Inspection activities, fast response to quality issues, Process Improvement, Investigations, and root cause analysis, Foreign object damage prevention, Opening/Closure of Non-conformities where appropriate, and support to the shop floor providing expertise in Q issues.
  • Carrying out Predictive Quality activities and Coaching to operations.
  • Inspect, attest, and conduct surveillance, to conduct PPS, to prevent FOD, to manage Non-conformities as appropriate, to be the go-to person on the shop floor for Quality issues.
  • To carry out Improvement, Prediction, and Coaching as appropriate.
Requirements
  • 2 years of experience in an aviation company with an emphasis on mechanical and/or structural components and assemblies.
  • Preferred experience in a Quality Inspector position.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of drawing systems, inspection plans, and inspection coordination.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, and tools used in the production line.
  • Handling and use of inspection tools for length measuring techniques (mechanical, electrical).
  • Relevant Airline/Aviation experience is desirable.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Preferred: FAA Airframe & Powerplant License, an A&P license including inspection authorization is preferred.
