Position Title: Electrical Engineer

Location: Stokesdale, NC

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

Department: Engineering

Reports To: Capital Projects Manager

Role Overview

  • The Electrical Engineer (with Siemens expertise) is responsible for executing planned maintenance tasks to prevent machine failures.
  • Diagnose root causes and address any electrical issues promptly to meet production efficiency and waste reduction targets.
  • Offer electrical controls and process engineering knowledge to enhance production line efficiency and reduce scrap through the implementation of various projects.
  • Key expertise required includes:
    • Proficiency with Siemens PLC systems.
    • Application of electrical controls and automation for innovative solutions.
    • Identification of process enhancements and knowledge transfer to essential personnel.
    • Programming and troubleshooting of control systems.
    • Strong design and project management skills.

Main Responsibilities

  • Engage in the development and execution of the preventive maintenance schedule to avert machine failures.
  • Initiate projects aimed at optimizing utility usage and driving reduction initiatives.
  • Leverage controls and process expertise to uncover opportunities for efficiency enhancements.
  • Effectively diagnose machine breakdowns to minimize production downtime and ensure targets are achieved.
  • Transform ideas into actionable solutions, designing and implementing process improvements.
  • Provide electrical controls expertise for both production and service equipment.
  • Investigate and resolve equipment issues with effective solutions.
  • Lead or participate in design reviews as the electrical authority for the facility.
  • Maintain electrical standards in accordance with Ontex Global guidelines.
  • Contribute to internal audits of workplace practices.
  • Oversee electrical contractors on-site.
  • Engage in focused improvement projects to enhance safety, ergonomics, efficiency, and cost reduction.

Qualifications

  • Support training and development initiatives for the electrical team.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience with Siemens systems.
  • Creation and maintenance of technical documentation as necessary.
  • Implementation of Lean principles within the area of responsibility.
  • Provide constructive feedback to the electrical department for maintenance procedure updates.
  • Ensure achievement of business objectives and production schedules while maintaining high product standards.
  • Be adaptable to varied duties consistent with training and skills, adhering to specified standards.

Job Complexity & Challenges

  • Handling specialized process equipment and control systems.
  • Supporting a continuous production operation.
  • Managing multiple control systems and PLC brands (Siemens and Allen Bradley).
  • Enhancing operational consistency through improved controls and Lean methodologies.
  • Collaborating with a diverse workforce on rotating shifts and engaging with international engineering support as needed.
  • Timely troubleshooting of machine failures to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Effectively resolving machine breakdowns to minimize downtime and meet production targets.
