Job Summary

As a Utility Attendant, you will play a vital role in maintaining the upkeep and maintenance of our Distribution Center. This is a non-exempt position that requires strong communication skills, basic math skills, and the ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Maintenance Mechanics with light mechanical work, such as servicing and repair of hand tools and minor floor machines.
  • Help maintenance personnel with installation and removal of equipment throughout the distribution center.
  • Perform light carpentry work, such as building racks, shelving, and repairing workbenches, as well as completing minor plumbing tasks.
  • Clean stopped drains and clean sumps and drains as needed.
  • Perform miscellaneous work, such as plastering repairs, concrete patching, or minor concrete replacement.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance programs, such as pest control, and update records associated with these programs.
  • Paint necessary areas and touch up equipment as needed.
  • Remove cardboard bales from baler and operate snow removal equipment to clean all walks, roads, and parking lots as assigned.
  • Fill out necessary paperwork or requisitions for materials as requested.
  • Keep daily work order logs for all work and clean the warehouse using sweeper and scrubber power equipment.
  • Remove trash from building using large portable dumpsters and keep building grounds in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Operate all power equipment in a safe manner and use safe lifting techniques at all times.
Requirements
  • Able to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Able to accurately use basic math skills.
  • Able to be certified to operate all power equipment.
  • Able to use maintenance tools, such as saws and drills.
  • Able to read labels, tickets, instructions, etc.
  • Able to lift and carry merchandise/equipment weighing up to 47 lbs. regularly, and up to 60 lbs. on an infrequent basis.
Physical Requirements
  • Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
  • Lift and move totes or cartons up to 50 pounds.
  • Walking within and around the site with great frequency.
  • Ability to climb ladders and gangways safely and without limitation, and work off platforms and equipment at significant heights.
  • Ability to use full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists, excellent eye to hand coordination, feet (foot pedals), manual (picking, pinching, holding, grasping), and wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation).
  • Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours, and wet or uneven surfaces.
Ability to Stand/Walk for Up to 10-12 Hours
  • Must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices, without endangering the health or safety of self or others.
  • Additional responsibilities as defined by manager.
