Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Excavation Specialist to join our team at Mount Pleasant Waterworks. As a key member of our water distribution team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and repair of our water distribution system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on excavators, front-end loaders, and backhoes, including fuel and oil filter changes and hydraulic line repairs.
  • Identify and repair leaks in the water distribution system, including substandard water mains, fire hydrants, valves, and meters.
  • Install new water mains and services, and replace old lines and services as needed.
  • Respond to customer complaints related to the water distribution system, including low pressure and water leaks.
  • Locate valves, mains, services, and leaks in the field using electronic and mechanical detection equipment.
  • Communicate with supervisors, employees, and customers to coordinate work activities and resolve problems.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by vocational or technical training in the operation and maintenance of distribution systems.
  • One to two years of experience in water system maintenance and repair, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid South Carolina driver's license and ability to obtain a Class B CDL within one year of hire date.
  • Ability to pass the D Water Distribution exam within one year of hire date.
  • Computer skills with proficiency in Maximo, Microsoft Outlook, and GIS mapping.
