Job Overview

Leonard Aluminum Utility Buildings is seeking a skilled Painter to join our team at the Leonard Purvis, MS–Distribution Center (DC). As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for preparing surfaces, applying paint coatings, and assembling components of shed buildings and truck accessories to produce high-quality finished products that meet customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, cleaning, and applying primers or sealers to ensure proper adhesion and finish quality.
  • Inspect surfaces for defects, imperfections, or damage, and make necessary repairs or adjustments to achieve smooth and uniform finishes.
  • Apply paint coatings to prepared surfaces using spray guns, brushes, or rollers, ensuring even coverage, proper thickness, and adherence to product specifications.
  • Mix and match paint colors to achieve desired shades and finishes, following color codes, formulas, or customer preferences.
  • Inspect painted surfaces for quality, including color consistency, texture, and finish, and make necessary adjustments or corrections to meet quality standards.
  • Document and report any quality issues, defects, or non-conformities to supervisors or quality control personnel for resolution.
  • Maintain and clean painting equipment, including spray guns, brushes, and mixing tools, to ensure proper functionality and prevent contamination of paint coatings.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as changing filters, lubricating parts, and calibrating equipment, to optimize performance and extend the lifespan of painting equipment.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), handling of hazardous materials, and safe operation of painting equipment and machinery.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including storage of paints, solvents, and equipment, to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in painting or related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a painter, with a minimum of 1 year of experience in painting shed buildings, automotive parts, or similar products.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and move around the work area to access different surfaces and equipment.
  • Capacity to lift and carry painting equipment, supplies, and materials weighing up to [X] pounds.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, brushes, rollers, and spray guns to apply paint coatings, requiring coordination and fine motor skills.
  • Flexibility to bend, stoop, and kneel to reach low or difficult-to-access areas for painting.
  • Repetitive Tasks: Capability to perform repetitive motions, such as sanding, brushing, and spraying, while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
  • Good vision to inspect surfaces, match paint colors, and identify defects or imperfections in painted finishes.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as goggles, gloves, and respirators, to minimize the risk of injury and exposure to hazardous materials.
