About the PositionThe Echocardiography Specialist supports patient care by performing echocardiogram procedures as advised by the physician. This position requires the use of ultrasound equipment and associated procedures to provide diagnostic studies based on physician requests.
Key Responsibilities- Demonstrate clinical proficiency and technical skills as Sonographer.
- Use appropriate techniques with ultrasound equipment to supply diagnostic studies based upon physician request.
- Perform a range of technical procedures that will require independent judgment for diagnosis.
- Demonstrate capability to provide high-quality imaging.
- Maintain knowledge about advanced imaging features to support enhanced capturing of data.
- Appropriately acquire echocardiographic measurements per protocol, create digital preliminary reports for the interpreting physician, and verbally communicate preliminary findings.
- Ability to review a physician order to verify appropriateness for order being performed.
- Acts as a role model in providing care; assists in Precepting Cardio Sonographers I.
- Retrieves studies from PACS for review.
- Performs appropriate infection control processes.
- Provides an environment of care that supports patient safety.
- Addresses patient educational needs as pertains to requested studies.
- Prepares patients for the study.
- Supports IAC Standards and Guidelines.
- Assures accuracy data for clinical reports, demographics, and billing information for physician reports.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Two (2) plus years of experience performing echocardiographic studies.
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS).
