Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary objective of this role is to operate packaging machinery and manage the packaging of finished products in alignment with customer requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the movement of harvested lettuce through conveyor systems and weighing devices.
  • Load cartons and lids onto conveyor belts while maintaining pace with production flow.
  • Verify that labeling and date codes match the harvested lettuce for the designated shift.
  • Monitor scales and ensure case weights adhere to customer specifications.
  • Manually package sealed cartons into corrugated boxes.
  • Ensure a steady supply of corrugated boxes for the subsequent stages of the packaging process.
  • Stack completed corrugated boxes onto wooden pallets.
  • Safely lift and transport items weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues, collaborating with maintenance personnel as needed.
  • Work collaboratively to prevent product jams in the conveyor system.
  • Rotate through various roles during the shift as required.
  • Assess product quality and take corrective measures when necessary.
  • Efficiently manage time to meet production goals while consistently delivering high-quality products.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all processing areas throughout the workday.
  • Record data and participate in daily team meetings.
  • Transport completed wooden pallets to the wrapping area and apply stretch wrap as necessary.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and comply with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines to maintain product quality and safety.
  • Foster a positive work environment through effective communication and collaboration with colleagues and management.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

High School Diploma or GED.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 1 year of experience in a production setting.
  • Experience in agriculture or horticulture is highly valued.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team; demonstrate initiative and self-motivation.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes in processes and procedures.
  • Strong listening and communication skills, particularly with supervisors and peers.
  • Capability to work in refrigerated environments for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks efficiently without compromising quality.
  • Willingness to accept constructive feedback to uphold quality standards and production objectives.
