Speech Pathologist Part Time Job Description

Join AdventHealth Central Florida as a Speech Pathologist Part Time and contribute to the healing ministry of Christ. As a Speech Pathologist, you will evaluate and conduct medically prescribed speech language pathology treatment programs, assessing patient ability to safely and effectively perform speech language, cognitive, and swallowing skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and conduct medically prescribed speech language pathology treatment programs
  • Assess patient ability to safely and effectively perform speech language, cognitive, and swallowing skills
  • Design and implement a treatment plan of care utilizing practice standards and recommended techniques and modalities, insurance guidelines, and patient needs
  • Monitor patient response and progress to treatment and modify treatment plan as appropriate
  • Document and charge accurately, completely, and timely using measurable and objective terminology, following standards of practice, insurance guidelines, and department/hospital policy and procedures
  • Provide discharge planning assistance and information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and follow-up services
  • Oversee the care provided by therapy aides, according to established regulations and practice standards
  • Meet productivity standards as defined by the department
  • Communicate appropriately and effectively with patients, family, and healthcare professionals within and across care settings and communities
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous waste following established protocol
  • Attend department meetings and education as required
  • Practice principles of professional development and performance by maintaining clinical knowledge, using best and/or evidence-based practices, and serving as a clinical instructor
  • Educate patients, family members, and caregivers about identified needs
  • May assist as required to market speech therapy program in the hospital and community
  • Willingly adjust and adapt to changes in patient census by altering working hours to assist in other centers/programs as needed/approved and observed by manager

Qualifications:

  • Licenses or provisional licenses in the State as a Speech and Language Pathologist
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence by American Speech & Hearing Association (ASHA)
