Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Producer to lead our morning newscasts at WKEF in Dayton, Ohio. As a key member of our newsroom team, you will be responsible for overseeing the production of our daily newscasts, special programming, and breaking news coverage.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of creating engaging and compelling stories across multiple platforms. You will work closely with producers and reporters to select and cover daily news stories, and will be responsible for managing the newsroom and handling breaking news on all platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily newscasts to ensure we are serving our local communities by sharing relevant information to alert and empower our audience
  • Supervise producers and reporters, as well as, review scripts and provide feedback to encourage powerful storytelling
  • Manage news room and handle breaking news stories on ALL platforms
  • Collaborate with News Directors and other station managers
  • Planning and overseeing continuity in newscasts
  • Produce newscasts and special coverage as needed


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong commitment to journalistic standards and ethics, as well as extraordinary people skills with an emphasis on coaching and motivating. You will also need to have a strong understanding of how to drive digital traffic and a proven track record of creating compelling and engaging stories across multiple platforms. A minimum of 4 years experience producing in a television news environment or equivalent is required, and a college degree in Journalism or a related field is preferred.
