Position: Facilities and Maintenance Operations Supervisor
Classification: Salaried, Exempt
Department: Operations and Building Maintenance
Reports To: General Manager of Operations, President, and CEO
Purpose of the Role: To manage the mechanics and upkeep of facilities, structures, and machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise maintenance personnel and ensure ongoing training and development.
- Maintain the cleanliness and overall orderliness of facilities.
- Collaborate with various vendors to guarantee the upkeep of facilities and equipment.
- Oversee vendor relationships related to maintenance of equipment and facilities.
- Design, implement, and manage Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs for all production machinery, including maintaining PM logs.
- Understand, instruct, and adhere to Operations Standard Operating Procedures.
- Work alongside Managers and Shift Supervisors to achieve the highest quality standards.
- Collaborate with the General Manager of Operations and President on machinery acquisitions and the development of specialized production equipment.
- Establish, train, and enforce safety protocols for technicians (e.g., Lock Out Tag Out procedures).
- Develop a procurement program for supplies and materials for relevant departments.
- Be proficient in reading and comprehending all necessary documentation.
- Ensure production areas are maintained in a clean state at all times.
- Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Performance Evaluation: Feedback will be provided both verbally and in writing as necessary, with recognition during monthly employee meetings and formal training on changes in SOP as required, along with an annual review by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; trade school experience is advantageous.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in electronic and mechanical troubleshooting of automated manufacturing equipment.
- Prior experience in the direct mail, bindery, or fulfillment sectors, particularly with high-speed inserters, is preferred.
- Strong mechanical skills and the ability to quickly grasp machine operations.
- Previous involvement in safety teams or safety training is a plus.
- Basic computer proficiency is required.
- Attention to detail is essential.
- Training in lean manufacturing or quality control is preferred.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
- Flexibility to rotate shifts for training purposes is necessary.
- Completion of a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check is mandatory.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing or walking; may involve climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 70 lbs. Manual dexterity is required for handling and feeling objects. Vision capabilities include close, distance, peripheral vision, and the ability to focus.
Work Environment:
Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, electrical hazards, and toxic chemicals. The noise level may range from moderate to loud.
