Job Summary
The Hospital Paramedic plays a vital role in the Prisma Health Ambulance Service, working under the daily direction of the on-duty charge nurse and attending physician. This position requires assessing and treating patients according to clinical operating guidelines, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Collects data and completes patient orders utilizing appropriate area and/or age-specific standards/policies and tools.
- Assesses and recognizes subtle or actual changes in patients' status and patient response to intervention.
- Identifies patient priorities for patient plan of care and validates these priorities with the healthcare team members and documents appropriately.
- Performs specific tasks based on organizational, departmental, and/or unit policies and procedures within the Paramedic scope of practice.
- Assumes responsibility for patient safety by maintaining a safe environment to include awareness of safety procedures, protocols, and adherence to patient care standards.
Requirements
- Current certification as a Paramedic per state requirements.
- 1 year of experience as a field paramedic with an EMS agency and/or clinical experience in a hospital.
- Must possess knowledge and skills for State Medical Board Approved Medications for Credentialed Paramedics and State Medical Board Approved Skills for Credentialed Paramedics.
