Position Title:

HVAC Service Technician - Class III - V

Position Overview:

The HVAC Service Technician will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and related environmental control systems. This role requires a solid understanding of refrigeration, heating, and pipefitting principles. Technicians in Class III will handle a broader range of direct expansion (DX) systems, while those in Class IV/V will manage complex refrigeration systems, including centrifugal and rotary screw chillers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, repair, and service HVAC equipment and controls with cooling capacities ranging from 1 to over 60 tons.
  • Perform repairs or replacements on compressor and condenser units.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork and related components using metalworking tools.
  • Connect tubing or pipes to refrigerating units, ensuring proper soldering and circuit formation for refrigerants.
  • Repair or replace motors, compressors, and control systems, ensuring connections to power sources are secure.
  • Conduct leak tests, add refrigerant, and maintain prescribed operating pressures on all systems.
  • Replace defective electrical components, including thermostats and switches, using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Service air-conditioning units of varying capacities as needed.
  • Maintain tools and vehicles provided by the company in a professional manner.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, report hazards, and contribute to a safe working environment.
  • Exhibit strong attendance and productivity levels.
  • Demonstrate effective time management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Show commitment to teamwork, flexibility, and adaptability in the workplace.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of two years of experience in commercial or industrial HVAC is preferred. EPA Universal certification is mandatory. Knowledge of pneumatic controls is advantageous. Candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster effective teamwork and customer relations. Physical requirements include the ability to climb ladders, lift 50 pounds or more, and work in confined spaces.

Certificates and Licenses:

A valid Driver's License and EPA Universal certification are required.

Physical Demands:

Candidates must be able to perform physical tasks such as climbing, lifting, and working in various environmental conditions.

Work Environment:

The work environment is representative of those encountered while performing essential job functions. Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
