Job Summary

This is a skilled manual labor position that requires the ability to perform physical labor and work in an outdoor environment with exposure to varying weather conditions.

The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining trails, campsites, river access sites, roadsides, and common use areas, as well as assisting with logjam clearing, setting up and taking down equipment and supplies for special events and education programs, and cleaning State vehicles.

The ideal candidate will have experience with operating handheld and power tools, utilizing maps, compasses, and/or GPS, and operating tractors, chainsaws, ATV's, UTV's, and mowing equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of trails, campsites, river access sites, roadsides, and common use areas
  • Assisting with logjam clearing
  • Setting up and taking down equipment and supplies for special events and education programs
  • Cleaning State vehicles
  • Operating tractors, chainsaws, ATV's, UTV's, and mowing equipment

Requirements:

  • Experience with operating handheld and power tools
  • Experience with utilizing maps, compasses, and/or GPS
  • Experience with operating tractors, chainsaws, ATV's, UTV's, and mowing equipment
  • Ability to perform physical labor and work in an outdoor environment with exposure to varying weather conditions

Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work in an outdoor environment with exposure to varying weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, humidity, and precipitation. The selected candidate will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

Salary and Benefits:

The starting rate for this position is $15.00 per hour - $15.86 per hour depending upon candidate qualifications and experience. The State of Wisconsin offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) retirement plan.
