We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mathematics Tutor to join our team at Johnson County Community College. As a Mathematics Tutor, you will play a critical role in supporting students in various Mathematics courses, providing guidance and mentorship to help them achieve academic success.
Key Responsibilities- Tutor students in Mathematics courses, including Calculus 2 and above, and assist with computer software and online homework platforms.
- Develop and maintain physical and electronic resources, including textbooks, calculators, and online guides, to support student learning.
- Refer students to appropriate resources within the Academic Resource Center and across campus based on their needs.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records, adhering to FERPA and keeping staff updated on student progress and problems.
- Assist in hiring and training new tutors, serve as a mentor to other center staff, and participate in mandatory center and campus training.
- Model tutor expectations and reinforce best practices, and assist with planning and coordinating events and workshops related to tutoring subject areas.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Math Education, or a related field, with at least 21 credit hours in Mathematics at the Calculus 1 level and above.
- At least 1 year of tutoring or teaching experience, with a strong background in Mathematics and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to student success and academic excellence.
