Job Summary:

Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is seeking qualified adjunct faculty members to teach entry-level Health Information Management courses. The successful candidate will possess expert skills, knowledge, experience, and education in the subject area and a history of successful teaching or related experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Instruct entry-level Health Information Management courses to prepare students to take the Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) exam.
  • Develop and implement course content, including electronic billing, reimbursement issues, CPT classifications, and pharmacology.
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback.
  • Stay current with industry developments and best practices in Health Information Management.

Requirements:

  • Currently credentialed as CCS, RHIT, or RHIA.
  • At least two years of coding experience.
  • Minimum Education Required: currently certified coding specialist (CCS) and three years of hospital coding experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of teaching experience.
  • Work experience in the field.
  • Experience with online teaching.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
  • Five years of coding experience.
  • Coding teaching experience.
  • Current Registered Health Information Administrator or Health Information Technician Certificate and an Associate's Degree.
