The College of the Holy Cross is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodian to join our facilities team. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness and organization of our campus facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Facilities Maintenance: Ensure the cleanliness and organization of all campus facilities, including offices, classrooms, and public areas.
- Waste Management: Empty wastebaskets and trash containers, and ensure that all waste is disposed of properly.
- Cleaning and Sanitizing: Clean and sanitize restrooms, floors, and other high-touch areas, using established practices and procedures.
- Equipment Maintenance: Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools, including buffers, auto-scrubbers, and vacuums.
- Physical Demands: Must have sufficient physical strength and ability to independently and repeatedly lift, move, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and to repeatedly lift, move, and carry objects weighing more than 75 pounds with assistance.
- Additional Responsibilities: Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, and events; perform cleaning and related activities such as removing snow or debris from sidewalks and stairs; and move furniture, equipment, supplies, and tools frequently.
- Education: High school diploma or GED is required.
- Experience: Two years of experience as a building attendant or custodial worker, and two years of experience using floor machines such as auto-scrubbers, buffers, and burnishes.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of housekeeping tools and equipment, and the ability to read, follow, and comprehend directions.
This is a non-exempt level position for purposes of the federal wage and hour law. The College of the Holy Cross is an EEO/AA/Disability/Vets Employer.
