Position Overview

We are seeking a Superintendent to oversee exceptional, high-end residential construction projects. As a key on-site construction manager, you will coordinate and supervise the work and safety of all field personnel and subcontractors. Your role is vital in creating schedules and managing critical paths while addressing technical challenges effectively. A profound understanding of construction best practices and the ability to communicate and collaborate with clients, vendors, subcontractors, designers, engineers, and architects is essential.
This position allows you to lead teams committed to delivering the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities

In the role of superintendent, you will manage on-site construction operations, focusing on unique architectural builds. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring that all work is conducted safely, adhering to plans and specifications, and complying with local building regulations.
  • Addressing daily constructability challenges.
  • Implementing quality control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborating with the project manager to develop and maintain the project schedule using MS Project; contributing to cost estimation during the preconstruction phase.
  • Maintaining essential documentation, including plans, specifications, and as-builts.
  • Overseeing subcontractors and managing all related activities (e.g., scheduling, performance evaluation, safety compliance, submittal reviews, shop drawings, RFIs).
  • Leading the entire field crew and enhancing supplier relationships while ensuring open and professional communication.
  • Conducting daily site inspections and maintaining a job log with all pertinent information (e.g., personnel, site visits, inspections, hazard identification, weather conditions).
  • Representing Dowbuilt professionally with clients, architects, project managers, subcontractors, and community representatives.
  • Coordinating the delivery, handling, storage, and placement of materials (with support from foremen).
  • Training and guiding field crew members while conducting performance assessments.
  • Ensuring job site security to protect all personnel, tools, and materials.

Qualifications for Success

To excel as a Dowbuilt superintendent, you will need:

  • A minimum of 15 years of superintendent experience, with at least 5 years in high-end, custom residential projects.
  • Experience collaborating with architects and designers to navigate design details and constructability issues.
  • A degree in Construction Management or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural drawings and specifications.
  • Journeyman-level carpentry skills.
  • Strong communication, team-building, and mentoring abilities.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of building practices and familiarity with both traditional and modern materials and methods.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project.
  • Experience with Sage 300 CRE is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • The willingness and ability to travel for project needs, with travel expenses reimbursed by the company.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
